Short Hilly Rides – around Fletcher Bay area

Tim Wentzel Island Bike Stories –

Sometimes you may feel like NOT using a car to carry your bike, but just take a short ride.   A great challenge can be in your own neighborhood.  Just getting some exercise, here are some examples of hilly rides on the west side. Battle Point, Grand Forest and Miller Rd.

Send us a message and we’ll share your island bike story.

Ride Around the Block

I did a 20 minute evening road ride around the block, granted my block is just over 4-1/2 miles.  A pretty quiet ride up Battle Point Dr with few cars lately. Around Battle Point Park, down and up Arrow Point Rd, the turn right (south) down Miller Rd.  The total gain 335 feet.

On another day, not wanting to see cars too much while riding, I used my mountain bike for a 35 minute local trail ride, and gained 420 feet in just over 4 miles.  Battle Point Dr to Miller (northbound) enter the Grand Forest and loop though to the Forest to Sky Trail, then left down a gravel road to NE Tolo, and back up hill to Battle Point Dr and home.
