Squeaky Wheels is member-powered. It's through the collective action of individuals like you that we have achieved success in the years since we first began meeting in 1994. The voice of Bainbridge Island cyclists is more effective when we sing together. Come join the choir and help to make Bainbridge Island a truly great place to ride a bike. By joining Squeaky Wheels you help demonstrate that the constituency of bicyclists on the island is large and growing. As an advocacy organization, Squeaky Wheels we can make a strong case to politicians and others that hundreds of people share a common vision for a community that puts a high value on getting around on foot and by bicycle. Squeaky Wheels is a member-driven organization working to support fun and safe bicycling on Bainbridge Island. We welcome and encourage your help in all the great stuff we do - read on to learn more! Your membership contribution helps us cover basic costs, and your volunteer time allows to spread our message even further. A few hours volunteering really goes a long way. After you join, you'll be redirected to our Newsletter page, let us know what you have a passion for from this list:
Education & Outreach
- Distribution (website, twitter, Facebook, fliers, videos)
- Writing Publications ( fliers, newsletters)
- Getting people started (How to start riding, Your Ferry Bike-buddy)
Events:
- Fun (Bike to School, Bike to Work, 4th of July, booths at events)
- Membership/ Fundraisers (Bike for Pie, Chili Feed, Voluntary Bike tabs)
Policy:
- Infrastructure & Safety (bicycle lanes, trails, traffic safety)
- Legislation (project funding, position papers, meeting attendance, planning)
- Interagency Coordination (Ferries, WSDOT, City, County, Parks, etc.)
Squeaky Wheels is a registered charity with the Secretary of State for Washington. Contributions may be tax-deductible.

Squeaky Wheels uses membership fees and other donations for educational programs and events including Bike to Work and School Day, Safe Routes to Schools, and bicycle safety classes. We sponsor rides, publicity for safer roads, safety advertisements, other bicycle groups, and we promote public policies leading to safer roads and educated users. Membership fees also support utilities, rent, postage and newsletters. Here are some of the things we have accomplished in recent years.
