Washington is a pretty bike-friendly state , so there are lots of resources on this page.

Getting Here & Around

THE FERRIES
Here you will find Washington State ferry schedules, conditions, and information about buying a money-saving bike commuter pass. The ferries play a big role in the lives of Bainbridge cyclists. And they still don't know quite what to do with us, but we're working on it. If you are thinking of taking the ferry and wonder if it will be crowded, the ferrycam is fun. And here is the Customer Service Form if you have feedback for the ferry service.
NOTE: May 2006 - There are big changes coming at the terminals. Buying bike passes is on hold while the ferry system updates to a magnetic card type of entry/fare system. Watch for more information on our site. Word is that the new system won't be intsalled until after the busy summer season, spreading the chaos out more evenly over the year.

KITSAP TRANSIT
Here is the site of all things Kitsap Transit including bus schedules and routes (bikes travel FREE on buses!) There are daily buses (mornings and afternoons) from Silverdale, Poulsbo, Kingston, Suquamish to the ferry terminal, plus a connecting service to Poulsbo from Jefferson Transit (Pt. Townsend, Prt. Hadlock, Hood Canal Bridge etc) The newer buses serving off-island destinations (the green buses, not the white ones) are also fitted with racks with capacities of 3 bikes each, versus the 2-bike racks on older buses.

Under the link to Commuter Programs, you will find information about the Bainbridge Bike Barn and lockers by the ferry, bikes on Kitsap buses, Commute Trip Reduction programs for employers and the Flexcar program. Did you know there is a Guaranteed Ride Home program for regular non-motorized commuters - guaranteeing a ride home in case of emergency? Lots of great stuff here.
