The long awaited opening of our main street, Winslow Way, is coming soon. Those who have walked through town have noticed that the roadway is much narrower and made out of concrete not asphalt. Cyclists will ride in the traffic lane through most of town instead of using the extra road width as we have in the past.  There is some concern that the new surface may be slippery when wet, so be careful. Rumors have it that a green painted bike lane will be installed on the east end of town just after the turn from highway 305. If this materializes, it will be a great sign that cycling is a serious part of our transportation system.

And the summer's annual chip seal and striping projects will be wrapped up soon.  Sunrise Drive and Wyatt Way were both covered with gravel and oil last month and caused an unpleasant ride for several days.  Most reports are that the work was done well and that the shoulders have been well swept.  Fog lines and yellow center lines are still being laid down. We have worked with the City to see if over-wide roads can have the fog lines moved in to provide more shoulder space for riders.  We are measuring roads this month to see which ones might be appropriate.
